Platinum аѕkеԁ:

Thе movie Slumdog Millionaire won 8 Oscars. Thаt’s ɡrеаt οf іt. Bυt whу Indians аrе cheering fοr іt ! Don’t уου thіnk іn India wе mаkе better films thаn thіѕ Slumdog !! Thіѕ іѕ nοt аn Indian film. Itѕ based οn Indian slums. Hollywood іѕ mаkіnɡ ουr poor society аnԁ social flaws tο mаkе more business аnԁ wе аrе Cheering !!!

Even mοѕt οf thе songs written bу Gulzar hаѕ better wording аnԁ tunes mаԁе bу AR Rehman hаѕ better musin thаn “Jai HO”

I agree with that.

1. I realise it’s essential to the plot, but still the portrayal of India was very negative. One gets the impression that the country is overrun with slums and religious violence is a common problem.

2. A. R. Rahman is a great musician, but this was not his best work. The music in this movie was inferior compared to “Vande Mataram” or the “Lagaan” score. Plus, “Down to Earth” should have won Best Song.

3. I’ve seen some of Satyajit Ray’s movies (such as “The adventures of Gopi and Bhaga” and “Aparajita”) and they are far superior.

I’m not cheering for any such movie because i’ve never seen it and i also think that the song jai ho is crap….people in the west thinks that everyone in india rides on an elephant and there is misery all over the place and their only source of information are such movies and things like ‘simpsons’

indians who are cheering for this movie should be ashamed of themselves.i think this movie is patronizing to the good folk of india.i bet if this movie was made in bollywood by a indian director it would have sunk without trace, but once a british director is involved,it wins 8 oscars.lets hope they don’t choke on their Champagne & caviar, while others starve & die in the slums of mumbai

Because this is like a dream come true. 3 Indians got OSCAR (A.R.Rahman, Razul Pukuty, Gulzar).

Because even if THEY haven’t made the movie, the movie still talks about THEM(the “indians”)? That’s what i think:D
makes them kinda proud i guess:D
