I don’t know about the movie. I could be For Whom the Bell Tolls, except that it is an American movie and the title is from one of Donne’s prose texts, via Hemingway.
I remember seeing a movie with Emma Thompson called Wit, in which she played an English professor who specialized in Donne’s poetry. The movie was very bad though.
