SHe should do something from Wicked, like Defying Gravity, or No Good Deed. Those really are songs about her life, and it shows who the wich is, and why she became so wicked.
maybe something from wicked the musical. it is by the wicked witch and the songs show emotion and give u the opportunity to sow a good vocal range.
Most directors don’t like when the person auditioning sings something from the musical they are trying out for. So stay away from that.
Well maybe get a CD version of the song For Good from wicked with one of the parts missing and she can sing the other part that is missing!
DON’T sing anything from Wicked. It’s horribly, horribly overdone as audition songs, and also while it is about the Wicked Witch of the West, it is a completely different portrayal of the character to how she is seen in the Wizard of Oz. Plus, you have to be an absolutely extraordinary belter to pull off any of Elphaba’s songs successfully – if you’re not, you’ll be compared unfavourably to Idina Menzel. I get so sick of people recommending songs from Wicked as audition songs, when in reality they’re about the worst songs you can do. Also Wicked is musically a totally different style from the Wizard of Oz, and you need to do something in a similar musical style.
The Wicked Witch doesn’t actually have any songs in either the RSC or MUNY versions of the Wizard of Oz (you don’t say which version they’re doing) but that may not affect the audition – she’ll probably have to sing anyway. I’d be searching for another Harold Arlen song (he wrote a lot of great songs) as he has quite a distinctive style and it’s always best to keep to the same composer wherever possible.
