Justified arrest, or has someone been watching too many bad action movies?

“Star Simpson, 19, had a computer circuit board and wiring in plain view over a black hooded sweat shirt she was wearing, said State Police Maj. Scott Pare, the commanding officer at the airport.
“She said that it was a piece of art and she wanted to stand out on career day,” Pare said at a news conference. “She claims that it was just art, and that she was proud of the art and she wanted to display it.”
The device had wires connected to a battery, allowing it to light up, he said. Simpson also had Play-Doh in her hands, he said.”
Seriously, do real bombs have blinky lights?
Here’s a picture of the device: http://customwire.ap.org/dynamic/files/photos/F/f0ccb94f-30c1-48a5-bb53-c35e333ee697.html?SITE=RANDOM&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT
It’s just a breadboard with some LEDs arranged in a star, some wire, and a battery. Doesn’t look very dangerous to me. I’ll bet if she had the exact same device enclosed in a case with just the star of LEDs showing and the rest of its functions hidden and nobody would have given it a second look. Expose the circuit for all to see and somehow that’s *more* scary.
Real bombs usually come in all shapes and sizes. Those “suicide bombs” have wires and puddy and timers with blinking lights. That 19 year old girl knew exactly what she was doing and she should be punished severely for it. What an idiot she is.
I agree with Big Len..making pretend bombs is not something people should take lightly anymore. It isn’t funny and any one old enough should know what would happen if they did something like this girl.
She is going to jail for a good long while.
“I didn’t know it was illegal,” or “It was just a joke” have never been valid defenses in our legal system.
It was realistic enough to alarm both the lady who reported it, and the guards, so…
I agree. She was retarded. She attempted to use the pretense of art in order to fuel a controversy, and that was unnecessary. It is true that I don’t feel that she should be punished severely, but I do think her actions deserve consequences. In lieu of what has happened in today’s world over the course of the last decade, I think we should all consider what choices we make, as well as refrain from criticizing those whose jobs is to protect our society. Ms. Simpson was an idiot. that is all there is to it.
Despite her attending a prestigious university and having a fairly high IQ to boot, she is really an immature being. She could have displayed her “art” at the university. Instead she picks a commercial airport. She is only alive because she followed the explicit instructions of the police. Otherwise, she and her “art” would have suffered the death of fools. Her actions are inexcusable!
Do real bombs having blinking lights? Yes! They are devices made to show the ordnance technician who is assembling and loading the bomb that the bomb is still in a “safety” state.
