Yes, it really goes back to Shakespeare — Othello, Lear, Romeo and Juliette, MacBeth, etc, — it’s just one horrible tragedy after the other.
I don’t see any way that society can overcome all this rubbery.

At lot depends on context.
‘Action Movies’ portray the violence as positive and you don’t see
the real horror of the effect of the violence.
They ‘de-sensitize’ a naive audience.
(Gun-shot victims just keel over, you don’t see the suffering,
a realistic wound, or even much gore.)
The Tragedies abhor it.
